Bourne Bridge Park | Buzzards Bay/Bourne, Massachusetts
Finalist, International Competition

Buzzards Bay is conceived as a network of paths that reconcile both practical and experiential circulation routes while still allowing moments of respite and stationary activity. Developing the strategy from the necessities of various pathways (the bicycle, and pedestrian, the fast and the slow, the wanderer and the direct route,) has implications for the Canal at large. Though paths cater to specific uses and experiences, they still interweave to form connections, allowing one to move within and break away from the prescribed routes. The separations that allow for a multiplicity of experiences also become the locations for events along the canal and potentially throughout the neighborhood. These programs range from picnic tables, seating areas, street vendors, a train station, restrooms, to a multi-use ‘gazebo’.
