HE was commissioned improve back-of-house spaces that provide visitors with disabilities an accessible route to other public programs. Corridors now double as both public space and infrastructure for art movement.

HE looked to the architecture of the existing infrastructure – ductwork, conduits, and their correspondingly complex and rich geometries - as inspiration for a new aesthetic for the space; rather than obfuscating these requirements, HE celebrates the infrastructure and by extension the museum’s staff who engage the operations of the institution.

Wayfinding, material, and spatial design elements borrow the language of diagonals and curves. Differentiation in the floor material provides clarity of direction for museum-goers; new wall graphics unite the space with the infrastructure in the ceiling to create an immersive environment.
