The NYIT Admissions office occupies critical ground floor space on 61st Street near Lincoln Center. In the context of an urban campus, the admissions program provides both necessary street presence and gathering place for the students, staff, faculty, and prospective students.
The existing space, consisting of 8,000SF of compartmentalized offices and cubicles, was made largely defunct by the pandemic and subsequent remote work. NYIT seized the opportunity to convert the underutilized post-pandemic work spaces into much needed social areas for students to gather, connect, study, and be welcomed.
The limited scope consists of removal of office cubicles, new finish treatments and graphics, as well as furniture placement. The floor treatments delineate student-accessed spaces and distinguish meeting areas for financial aid, the bursar, and campus tours. Wall graphics provide a sense of school spirit and acknowledge the campus’ urban location.
