Quilt House | Acton, Massachusetts
In 2008, Empyrean International, now known as the Deck House / Acorn company, commissioned HE to design a prefab prototype utilizing the manufacturer's post & beam and panelized building system.

The design accepts the dimensions, construction details, and geometry of the building system, which comprises only the weather-tight shell. Since the prefab house is finished on site, the cladding of Quilt House presents an opportunity to create differentiation through material patterning. Common materials often used in conjunction with the prefabricated weather tight shell - clapboard siding, shingles, corrugated metal - are embraced and used to create a house with a varied textured exterior.
